WELCOME TO
The Brett Family Website

About us.
Living in England's capital until the mid 1960's we resided in Bermondsey. May was from a family with two sisters and one brother, Jim had numerous brothers and sisters.

May was born in 1929 and Jim in 1922. They met in a tannery in London and married on Christmas day some years later, In 1954 they had their first son, followed six years later with their final child.

It was in the mid 1960's that Jim left the capital and went to Suffolk to try and find work and a house, which he did successfully. And when May joined him in 1965 they found their forever home.

It was in the 1990's that Jim become unwell and suffered a stroke, May gave up work to look after him and in 1996 he passed away. May struggled to live by herself, but with family help she managed until she died in 2014. Her two sons Richard and David remain in Suffolk.

Jim worked in woodworking factories while May worked in factory canteens. Jim retired through ill-health and May decided working was no more an option, despite only having a short while to retire herself.

In 1996 David was involved in a road traffic accident, which saw him lose a limb and still affects him today.

Richard had a big birthday in 2024, where he hit a certain age that didn't make him feel better. It's a funny thing, when you're young you think you are invincible as you age you begin to realise 'actually I am not'. And now in later life sometimes we rely on others to help.

On the Brett side, a last known aunt passed away a few years back which was a sad thing to hear. However, we heard she had Alzheimer's, which added some sadness to it.
